Today The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility presented its first 2009 Congressional Leadership Award at a meeting with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL). The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is presenting 21 awards to Members of Congress who have demonstrated leadership in the effort to fight drunk driving and underage drinking.
This is the second time that Congresswoman Schakowsky has received an award from The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. This year’s award honors her efforts to bring attention to the issue of underage drinking and the need for healthy lifestyles among our nation’s children.
We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with Congresswoman Schakowsky to reach middle school aged children and their parents with the message that having a healthy lifestyle includes saying no to underage drinking and that parents have the power to influence their children on the choices they make.
