Over the past several years The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has partnered with many professional athletes to encourage youth to live a healthy and active lifestyle and not consume alcohol underage. Shannon MacMillan, the 2002 U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year, is one such athlete who shares our goal. In addition to previously promoting the Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking initiative at several of her soccer camps, Shannon recently supported the Ask, Listen, Learn initiative at the Shannon MacMillan Soccer Clinic, held at the National Soccer Hall of Fame's Induction weekend. More than 180 attendees received Ask, Listen, Learn materials throughout the weekend and learned about the dangerous consequences of underage drinking.
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility and the National Soccer Hall of Fame have been partners since 2007, working to motivate young people to lead healthy and active lives.
We thank Shannon MacMillan for her efforts in the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking, and look forward to continuing to work with her and so many other outstanding role models for our youth.
