A hearty congrats to Mia Hamm and Siri Mullinix who were the first Washington Freedom alumni inducted into the “Hall of Freedom!” The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility was the title night sponsor of the May 3rd Washington Freedom game against the St. Louis Athletica. Mia and Siri are role models for youth nationwide! The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility continues to partner with athletes as role models because we recognize the studies that show that participation in sports may be a protective factor against risky behaviors such as underage drinking. We set up a booth during the Freedom’s “Fan Fest” and distributed information about our Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking program. We encouraged game attendees and their parents to communicate about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and to discuss the dangers of underage drinking. We also talked with game attendees about starting Girl Talk chapters in their schools. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to have worked with Mia and Siri through our Girl Talk program. Mia Hamm has highlighted the program during her “Mia and Nomar Celebrity Soccer Challenge” as well as at during her induction, alongside Julie Foudy, into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Siri Mullinix has participated in Girl Talk events in her home state of North Carolina as well as Washington, DC, Rhode Island, and Maine! The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility wants teens to say “yes” to a healthy lifestyle and “no” to underage drinking! Check out the video and pics below from the game yesterday!
