A few weeks ago we read an article in the Washington Post about Fairfax County Police Department Officer Al Cruz and his work with at-risk youth in the Fairfax, Virginia-area [read the article here]. Officer Cruz, his fellow officers, and members of the community are utilizing soccer to help build stronger relationships with youth. This leads to safer streets and a stronger potential for the youth he is able to reach. As Officer Cruz has showed, sports can be a powerful thing. When we read the story about Officer Cruz and his efforts to help youth make the right decision, we wanted to do something to recognize his outstanding work.

Yesterday we told you of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility's official corporate sponsorship of D.C. United and that we are the game night sponsor of this Saturday's game. For this game, 25 players, parents, and chaperones involved with Officer Cruz's efforts will be our guests at the D.C. United match. The players will receive free food, a t-shirt, a D.C. United-branded promotional item, and recognition at the game.

We thank Officer Cruz for his tireless efforts to ensure that Fairfax County teens stay on the right track. We look forward to cheering with them for D.C. United this Saturday!
