This marks the 20th year that The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has been fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. Over the course of our existence, drunk driving fatalities have decreased by 32 percent and underage drinking has declined 49 percent. We certainly can’t take all the credit for this, but we’ve played an important part. However, our work is far from done. Underage drinking and drunk driving continue to devil our society, and college binge drinking is a troubling, continuing issue.

At the same time, powerful new technologies could potentially fight drunk driving in ways previously unavailable. For better and for worse, the next 20 years look just as challenging as the last 20.

Throughout all of this, our work would never have been possible without the stalwart backing of our funders. They remain as engaged and committed to these issues as they were at our foundation, and their enthusiasm for fighting drunk driving and underage drinking inspires our work.

Over the past 20 years, our organization has evolved a great deal. We’ve moved offices twice, adapted to the rise of the internet, and confronted new and difficult challenges. Moving forward, we hope that you’ll join us in working within your own communities to prevent underage drinking. These are issues that touch everyone. More than anything, your involvement is the key ingredient in making our communities safer and healthier.
