We are excited to once again be a partner of DC Stoddert in year 2012, our fifth consecutive year! DC Stoddert Soccer League, Inc. (DCSSL) is a non-profit, youth soccer organization, providing organized teams and supervised games for the youth of Washington DC.  DC Stoddert’s philosophy of "youngsters having fun" encourages youth players to pursue soccer for enjoyment.  The League promotes self-esteem through sports, sportsmanship, individual skill development, team tactics, parity among open division teams and opportunities for players of all skill levels.

In addition to our regular support of DC Stoddert, on this, our fifth year of collaboration we are thrilled to provide a scholarship for one of their players to attend the Julie Foudy Sport Leadership Academy this summer! Laniyyah Elam will be traveling to the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ at the end of the month to participate of this excellent opportunity.

She is a U16 travel soccer player with DC Stoddert’s Mischief, a team competing all-year round at the highest levels of the game. Laniyyah is the team’s co-captain, a role she earned through her commitment to the game, to her team, and to her continuous improvement. She is a leader on and off the field who knows how to keep her teammates in the game even when they are getting down. Nicknamed by her coach “Laniyyah Denyyah,” she plays sweeper where she ensures her opponents have little chance to break through her defense.

Laniyyah is also a top Honors and AP student with a3.43 GPA at Wilson High School in Washington, DC where she is a junior and plays striker on the women’s varsity soccer team. Laniyyah works hard to keep herself in top form and is proactively pursuing a chance to play at the collegiate level after graduation. Her teammates look up to her as a leader and her consistently positive attitude is contagious.

Congratulations to Laniyyah and to DC Stoddert for providing youth with a chance to engage in positive activities to keep them healthy and for helping bring out the best in them!
