Lifesavers is the premier national highway safety meeting in the United States dedicated to reducing the tragic toll of deaths and injuries on our nation’s roadways. Drawing nearly 2,000 participants in 2011, Lifesavers has since the 1980's been an invaluable resource to those concerned with traffic sfety. Each year, the Lifesavers Conference provides a forum that delivers relevant and timely common-sense solutions to today’s critical highway safety problems.

Lifesavers is a chance for us to share some of our latest research and ongoing projects.

Hardcore drunk drivers remain one of the deadliest threats on our roads. We believe that through judicial education and improved assesment and treatment of hardcore drunk drivers, we can help bring the number of drunk driving deaths down. We're looking forward to sharing our work, and learning from our fellow attendees in this field.

Another area of road safety we're focusing on is teen driver education. As we shared recently, distracted driving by teens, particularly with phones and other electronic devices, has become a hot-button issue. Our I Know Everything program, produced in conjunction with the Supreme Court of Virginia, it's intended as a resource for Virginia judges to use during the licensing ceremony and for other stakeholders to use as a supplement to their teen driving safety efforts. It is our goal to offer judges the latest national data, provide relevant safety messages for teens and their parents and leave a lasting impression on teen drivers. While it's focus is purely on Virginia at the moment, we hope to soon expand nationwide.

If you're attending Lifesavers, we hope you'll come see us and share some of your own work. And if you couldn't make it, follow along on Twitter via #tcclifesavers
