During National Teen Driver Safety Week this year, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility will be highlighting its work with the Virginia Supreme Court to capture the attention of new teen drivers and their parents in the Commonwealth through the implementation of the IKnowEverything driver licensing program. The IKnowEverything program helps juvenile and district court judges by incorporating information on today’s safe driving issues in dynamic media to effectively capture the attention of the ceremony participants and solidify important safety concepts.

Virginia is the only state in the nation that requires a formal licensing ceremony with a judge for teens and their parents before being granted the privilege to drive with an unrestricted license.  This gives judges the most unique opportunity in the country to reach new drivers and remind them about safe driving behavior. Through this ceremony, judges are also able to affirm the control of the parents and encourage them to maintain a positive influence over their teens’ driving practice.
