For the second consecutive year, we are excited to have a chance to work with the Young Marines. This youth development organization serves boys and girls, ages 8 through high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Last year, in conjunction with the Young Marines, we reached over 20,000 students nationwide with our Ask, Listen, Learn program brochures during their Red Ribbon Week outreach efforts. We are particularly thrilled this year to have the opportunity to expand that reach to over 30,000 students through 100 Young Marine Units nationwide! In addition to the program brochures, this year we will be providing our interactive game to these units to help strengthen the program's message.
"Working with The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility to address the serious issue of underage alcohol consumption has proven to be a very successful partnership for the Young Marine program”, says Michael Wilson, Young Marines Division 6 Commanding Officer. “Young Marines, working with The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, are carrying the message into our school classrooms of the harmful and serious effects that alcohol presents to those under the age of 21."
Stay tuned for more information on the Young Marines efforts during Red Ribbon Week, October 2012. We tip our hats to the Young Marines for their commitment to health and well-being of our nation’s youth!
