Since it is Teen Driver Safety Week, we thought it would be a great idea to share how excited we are to work with The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility to promote the IKnowEverything teen driver safety program. We think this program is a great tool that enhances teen driver safety in Virginia and sends the right message in the right way to new drivers. It also complements the Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO) annual “Save Your TAIL-Gate, Buckle Up” campaign. This educational and awareness campaign is a contest among YOVASO chapters in middle and high schools in Virginia to increase seat belt usage rates among students.  The winning chapter is chosen based on its percentage increase in seat belt use, the number of awareness activities at home football games, other education activities it sponsors, and the number of students who sign a petition and pledge to always buckle up.

What better time to showcase this year’s winners at the high school and middle school levels. The Grand Prize winner at the high school level is Stuarts Draft High School.  For their efforts, Stuarts Draft will receive a “Surprise Celebration Party” for their whole school! The runner up high schools are Lord Botetourt High School and Middlesex High School.  The winners in the middle school bracket are Forest Middle School in first place with runners up, Auburn Middle School and Hidden Valley Middle School.

Keep an eye out for the IKnowEverything program materials at your YOVASO chapter soon to use for your education and awareness efforts. Find a YOVASO chapter in your school by going to our website, www.yovaso.net, or you can even start your own chapter!

And don’t forget to Like IKnowEverything and YOVASO on Facebook!
