Responsibility.org kicks off #GYTSM14 at NOYS event and meeting

Last week, Responsibility.org participated in a kickoff of the 8th annual Global Youth Traffic Safety Month with the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) in Washington, DC. We are proud to partner with NOYS on our IKnowEverything teen driver safety program.

We were with local youth from Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) chapters, as well as national officers of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Also in attendance were representatives from the State Farm Insurance Celebrate My Drive program, The Allstate Foundation, AT&T’s It Can Wait program, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Governors Highway Safety Association, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Safe Kids Worldwide.

At a press conference, located in NTSB’s board room, Member Rosekind and Acting NHTSA Administrator David Friedman addressed the issue of road safety on a global and national level, and Safe Kids Worldwide announced a new project on global teen driver safety. NOYS also announced the winners of the Project Yellow Light competition high school and college winners.

Following the press conference, Responsibility.org served as a walk ambassador for the 2nd annual Long Short Walk. The mile-long walk was created in memory of 13-year old Zenani Mandela, Nelson Mandela's great-granddaughter who was killed as a result of a vehicular crash.

Responsibility.org also presented to NOYS Board and coalition members the following day at a meeting in Washington, DC. We were delighted to announce our new name, talk about our activities during Global Youth Traffic Safety Month with the IKnowEverything program, and share other programs and initiatives with the coalition.
