ARLINGTON, VA – Since its inception in 1991, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has been steadfast in its mission to fight drunk driving and underage drinking. While much progress has been made by attacking these problems head on, it is also important to examine these issues in a larger cultural context. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and recognizes that the past 20 years could not have been a success without the support of remarkable individuals who encourage health, wellness, and a commitment to eliminating drunk driving and underage drinking.

As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility will honor 20 People to Watch. These twenty people have distinguished themselves through their leadership, ideas and commitment to the health and safety of our nation and the idea of a brighter future for America’s young people. Young or old, established in their chosen professions, or just starting out, these twenty people are ones we are excited to follow in the future.

Chris Koster was sworn in as the 41st Attorney General of the state of Missouri on January 12th, 2009. In his first two years as Attorney General, Koster has focused efforts on detecting and prosecuting Medicaid fraud, pursuing mortgage-relief and debt-settlement scams, cracking down on fraudulent auto service contract businesses, using Missouri’s legal authority to protect our water resources, and educating young people about Internet safety.

Prior to his election as Missouri’s Attorney General, Koster represented the 31st district in the Missouri Senate from 2004 to 2008, which covers Cass, Johnson, Bates and Vernon counties. During his time in the General Assembly, Koster played key roles in the debates over stem cell research, tort reform, and the elimination of Medicaid fraud. Additionally, in 2006 Koster successfully carried legislation in the Senate to dramatically overhaul Missouri’s eminent domain laws.

“The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is there to act as a reminder to young people that there are major consequences for irresponsible decisions. They have done an incredible job in getting the message out to young people,” said Koster.

“While The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility works with many talented and dedicated professionals, Attorney General Koster is an individual who has shown true passion and has worked with us tirelessly to eliminate drunk driving and underage drinking,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility.

The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to celebrate the innovative contributions it has made over 20 years and can attribute our success to the support, encouragement and commitment of people like General Koster. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility looks forward to continued progress in the fight against drunk driving, underage drinking and a safer and healthier America. Individuals who are making a difference will help all Americans move towards this goal.
