ARLINGTON, VA – Since its inception in 1991, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has been steadfast in its mission to fight drunk driving and underage drinking. While much progress has been made by attacking these problems head on, it is also important to examine these issues in a larger cultural context. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and recognizes that the past 20 years could not have been a success without the support of remarkable individuals who encourage health, wellness, and a commitment to eliminating drunk driving and underage drinking.

As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility will honor 20 People to Watch. These twenty people have distinguished themselves through their leadership, ideas and commitment to the health and safety of our nation and the idea of a brighter future for America’s young people. Young or old, established in their chosen professions, or just starting out, these twenty people are ones we are excited to follow in the future.

Shelley Berkley has represented the families of Nevada’s First Congressional District since 1999 and is currently in her seventh term as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Some of Berkley’s priorities include jump-starting the economy; creating jobs; helping families stay in their homes; securing more resources for education and transportation in southern Nevada; increasing access to affordable, high-quality health care for America’s families; developing clean, alternative energy sources; fighting the proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump; protecting Social Security; and strengthening American alliances abroad to work toward international stability and peace.

“I don’t think there is an organization that I’ve worked with that has had a greater impact on underage drinking than The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. It has been resolute in bringing programs to my congressional district and I suspect across The United States,” said Congresswoman Berkley.

“Congresswoman Berkley has been a steadfast supporter and partner of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. “She has helped to bring The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility’s various programs to many students in schools throughout Las Vegas. We look forward to continuing work with her on the important issues of drunk driving and underage drinking in the future.”

The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to celebrate the innovative contributions it has made over 20 years and can attribute our success to the support, encouragement and commitment of people like Congresswoman Shelley Berkley. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility looks forward to continued progress in the fight against drunk driving, underage drinking and a safer and healthier America. Individuals who are making a difference will help all Americans move towards this goal.
