ARLINGTON, VA – Since its inception in 1991, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has been steadfast in its mission to fight drunk driving and underage drinking. While much progress has been made by attacking these problems head on, it is also important to examine these issues in a larger cultural context. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and recognizes that the past 20 years could not have been a success without the support of remarkable individuals who encourage health, wellness, and a commitment to eliminating drunk driving and underage drinking.
As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility will honor 20 People to Watch. These twenty people have distinguished themselves through their leadership, ideas and commitment to the health and safety of our nation and the idea of a brighter future for America’s young people. Young or old, established in their chosen professions, or just starting out, these twenty people are ones we are excited to follow in the future.
Donna Moore, currently a physical education specialist at Julia Randall Elementary School in Payson, Arizona is one of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility’s distinguished 20 People to Watch. During her 29 years as a physical education specialist, Moore has been named the 2010 Arizona Educational Foundation’s Ambassador for Excellence, received the 2010 Gila County’s Teacher of the Year award and was instrumental in receiving the Federal Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant for 1.1 million-dollars to expand and develop Payson Unified School’s physical education program.
“Today we are completely in a different society and school is so much more important to kids, if we can be that sole positive impact on kids, we can be the source that can change a child’s life,” said Moore.
“While several leaders come to mind, Donna Moore is an individual who has shown a true passion for her work and has a strong desire to instill healthy lifestyle choices. As one of our 20 People to Watch, Donna Moore has had a tremendous impact on the children in her classes over the years and we look forward to continuing to work with her to combat underage drinking and encourage healthy lifestyles,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility.
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to celebrate the innovative contributions it has made over 20 years and can attribute our success to the support, encouragement and commitment of people like Donna Moore. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility looks forward to continued progress in the fight against drunk driving, underage drinking and a safer and healthier America. Individuals who are making a difference will help all Americans move towards this goal.
