ARLINGTON, VA – Since its inception in 1991, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has been steadfast in its mission to fight drunk driving and underage drinking. While much progress has been made by attacking these problems head on, it is also important to examine these issues in a larger cultural context. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and recognizes that the past 20 years could not have been a success without the support of remarkable individuals who encourage health, wellness, and a commitment to eliminating drunk driving and underage drinking.
As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility will honor 20 People to Watch. These twenty people have distinguished themselves through their leadership, ideas and commitment to the health and safety of our nation and the idea of a brighter future for America’s young people. Young or old, established in their chosen professions, or just starting out, these twenty people are ones we are excited to follow in the future.
Robyn Robertson is currently the President and CEO of the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), a charitable, independent road safety research institute. Robertson has worked on numerous projects focusing on the justice system, impaired driving, repeat offenders, risk assessment, fatigue, senior drivers, safety technologies and persistent traffic offenders. During her career, she has published more than 60 major reports and articles in traffic safety and criminal justice journals.
“We are at an important stage in which knowledge, innovation, and the desire to collaborate are at an all-time high in the field. Impaired driving has always been a cross disciplinary issue touching the fields of transportation, safety, justice, health, education and technology. We are now at a critical point where these distinct disciplines are beginning to collaborate, share knowledge, exchange ideas, and draw upon advances in other fields. This growing integration will take us to the next level, to help deliver the decline in fatalities and injuries that road safety professionals are seeking,” said Robertson.
“The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility has the honor of working with many dedicated and talented individuals in the fight to eliminate drunk driving and underage drinking, but Robyn Robertson stands out among the standouts,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. “The work that TIRF has done under Robyn’s leadership has been invaluable and we look forward to working with her into the future.”
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is proud to celebrate the innovative contributions it has made over 20 years and can attribute our success to the support, encouragement and commitment of people like Robyn Robertson. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility looks forward to continued progress in the fight against drunk driving, underage drinking and a safer and healthier America. Individuals who are making a difference will help all Americans move towards this goal.
