Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) Honored for Her Commitment to Fighting Drunk Driving and Underage Drinking

Washington, DC -- Today, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, a national not-for-profit organization funded by distillers, is honoring leaders who have shown an outstanding commitment to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) is one of 22 Members of Congress to be recognized for her ongoing dedication to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking.

Understanding the need to address the problems of drunk driving and underage drinking on a national scale, this year’s award recipients joined The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility at educational events for youth in their communities, encouraged responsible decision-making in public service announcements (PSAs) they recorded and asked their followers on social media to talk to their children about how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Senator Heitkamp has shown tremendous leadership by chairing the Congressional Stop DUI Caucus in the U.S. Senate and has worked with her colleagues to promote awareness around drunk driving issues. Senator Heitkamp also recorded a public service announcement for The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility's IKnowEverything program, which encourages teens to make safe driving decisions behind the wheel and parents to talk to their children about making responsible choices.
