Community corrections professionals are in a unique position to have an impact on system efforts directed towards hardcore drunk driving offenders. As the single justice entity that is typically involved with offenders from the beginning to the end of the judicial process, community corrections can play a leading role in the development and implementation of effective strategies to promote public safety, facilitate behavioral change, and reduce the number of hardcore drunk drivers endangering the roads each day.

The Hardcore Drunk Driving Community Supervision Guide, developed in partnership with the American Probation and Parole Association, is designed to assist community supervision professionals in recognizing the complexities of hardcore drunk driving cases and identifying strategies to effectively supervise these offenders throughout the various stages of the justice process. The free online training course based on this publication has been approved by APPA’s Continuing Education as five hours of contact.
