Second Chance is a three-day early intervention education program offered to Arlington teens who are caught for the first time by school staff, the police or their parents in possession of or under the influence of alcohol and/or marijuana. It is a collaborative community effort that includes students, parents/guardians, school administrators, police, the juvenile justice system, and health and medical fields.
The program includes a mandatory parent component on the third day of the program and a booster session for teens and parents/guardians approximately six weeks after completion of the three-day program. Participation in Second Chance is available to middle and high school youth (grades 6-12) who reside in Arlington.
