This project, first of its kind, will create a user friendly resource of promising programs currently utilized in the criminal justice system to increase the effectiveness in dealing with drunk drivers, including hardcore offenders.
Hardcore drunk drivers can be defined as those who drive with a high BAC of 0.15 or above, who do so repeatedly as demonstrated by having more than one drunk driving arrest, and who are highly resistant to changing their behavior despite previous sanctions, treatment or education.
What constitutes a promising program? We define a promising program as one that leads to behavior modification among offenders and improves outcomes in the criminal justice system. It should be simple, easy to explain, understand, implement and replicate; cost effective; and able to measure in objective terms, outcomes and results.
Please assist us in creating our promising practices guide and also help promote your program by sharing what you are doing in your community that could be helpful to others.
